Larry Parker Obituary

Larry Wayne Parker, age 67, of Aubrey, TX, formerly of Princeton, TX, went to Jesus on April 15, 2024, after battling pancreatic cancer a second time.  He was in the Vitas Inpatient Hospice Care Unit in Carrollton TX at the time of his passing.

The Celebration of Life service will be held at Gateway Funerals and Cremation, 17390 Preston Road, Ste 310, Dallas, TX 75252, phone 469-913-8493, on Friday, April 26, 2024.  Visitation will be at 10:00 am and the Celebration of Life Service will be at 12:00 pm.  Burial will be at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, TX, at 3:30 pm.  Scott Bernard, Director of Gateway Funerals and Cremation, will direct the service.  Pastor Todd Boddy, Pastor of First Christian Church of Princeton, TX, will guide the Celebration.

Larry was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 26, 1956. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1974 and took classes at TAMU Commerce (formerly East Texas State University) and Arizona State University.  Through the years, he received several certifications in cable installation, computer repair, LAN, Microsoft, Windows, and software and hardware interface.

After high school, Larry worked for Kraft foods and other part-time jobs while going to college.  He worked as a cable installer for Warner Cable, one of the first cable companies in the DFW area.  He worked in IT and computer repair for Parkland Hospital, AT&T, and various contract companies.  He worked for Raytheon in McKinney while he and Nancy lived in an apartment in Little Elm.

In high school, he played baseball, golf, and football and sang in the choir. He enjoyed watching almost any kind of sports, listening to music, and reading all kinds of books. He began to bowl and continued that sport until he and Nancy were married—around 50 years of bowling. He began his own part-time business repairing computers, when caring for his mom at home.  He continued to repair computers on the job and in his part-time work until his health began to fail.

Larry was married to Peiying Juan, also known as Nancy, on October 4, 2018, with a larger celebration November 25, 2018, on Nancy’s birthday.  After being a bachelor for nearly 40 years, she became the “love of his life.”  He helped her with English and learning to drive, and she taught him about new vegetables and Taiwanese cooking.  Together they bought a house, enjoyed gardening, and bought Nancy a car

Larry is survived by his wife Nancy; his sister Judy Ziola, niece Terri Robinson; nephews Chris Daniels and Greg Daniels, niece Chelsea Parker, nephew John Parker, Jr; cousins Patricia Banks, Karen Blair, Charles Gill, Sandra Parker, and great nephew and great niece Tyler Robinson and Jea Robinson along with their spouses and children and numerous friends including his long-time bowling partner, Frank Phillips, who introduced Larry to Nancy; and Amy Lin who has been a most precious friend to Nancy and Larry and Judy.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edd Crawford Parker and Juanita Hill Parker Smith; brothers Terry Lynn Parker and John Micheal Parker; grandparents Hazle and Pete Robinson, Ether Smith, John Marshall Parker, Jim Lorance; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was also preceded in death by his baby girl who lived 2 days –Alyssa Camille.  She is buried in Arizona.

Larry loved his family.  He was a wonderful husband, brother, and son.  He let his wife know how much she meant to him every day.  He told his sister how grateful he was to her every day.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to pancreatic cancer research or the organization of your choice.

A special thanks to everyone here today and to everyone who responded with prayers, kindness, and caring. Thanks to my precious family.  Thanks to Scott Bernard; to Pastor Todd Boddy; to FCC Princeton for constant and continued prayer and support; and to Amy Lin and Tony for always being there for Nancy.

Thank You, Lord, for taking Larry into Your glorious heaven!
